For us, sustainability is the way we carry out our core activities as a logistics service provider. We are aware of the social and environmental impact of our activities and take our social responsibility seriously by running our business not only from an economic standpoint, but also including social and environmental aspects in the decision-making process.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out a vision for ending poverty, hunger, inequality and protecting the Earth’s natural resources by 2030. Realizing this ambition will require private sector, governments and civil society to play their part and work together in new and innovative ways.
As an industry leader, we believe that sustainable transport drives poverty eradication and sustainable development. There are a number of SDG targets directly linked to transport, including SDG 3 on Health (increased road safety), SDG 7 on Energy, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 12 on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ending fossil fuel subsidies) and SDG 14 on Oceans, seas and marine resources. As a leading company, we believe SDG 3 and 8 are where we can make the most important contribution. The scale and nature of our business mean that we also contribute to a number of the UN’s goals through our everyday operations.
Ethical Conduct
The expertise of our people drives our business built on a foundation of ethics and values. Ethical conduct is a priority for Egytrans and we are committed to performance with integrity. We have robust policies and compliance processes covering all our operations. Our compliance programs embed the same standards across our businesses. These include our Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, which outlines how all employees should apply our values and behaviors, and our policies and procedures which regulate how we operate. We strive to build a values-based culture by training our people on the standards we expect, encouraging the reporting of any concerns and acting swiftly and transparently when issues occur.
We are a signatory to the UN Global Compact and we are committed to upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the core labor standards set out by the International Labor Organization (ILO). We continue to monitor existing suppliers and screen new suppliers within those guidelines.
